Understanding VAT and Taxes

Value Added Tax (VAT) and other taxes are applied based on your location and the location of the service provider. This page explains how taxes work on the Ouiconnect platform.

How VAT is Defined for Each Country

VAT rates vary by country and are determined by local tax regulations. On Ouiconnect:

• EU Countries: VAT is applied according to EU tax regulations. The rate depends on the country where the service is provided.
• Non-EU Countries: Tax regulations vary by country. Some countries may have sales tax, GST, or other tax systems instead of VAT.
• Tax-Exempt Countries: Some countries do not charge VAT or similar taxes on digital services.

VAT rates are automatically calculated based on:

• The provider's registered country
• The client's country (for digital services)
• The type of service (physical or digital)

Automatic vs Manual VAT Application

Automatic VAT Calculation

For most transactions, VAT is calculated and applied automatically by the system based on:

• Your account settings and location
• The service provider's location
• Current tax rates in the applicable jurisdictions

Manual VAT Configuration

Providers can manually configure VAT settings in their account:

• Go to your Provider Profile Settings
• Navigate to "Tax & Billing" section
• Enter your VAT registration number (if applicable)
• Set your tax preferences

Note: If you have a valid VAT registration number, you may be exempt from certain VAT charges or eligible for VAT refunds depending on your country's regulations.

How Providers Configure VAT Settings

As a provider, you can configure your VAT settings by following these steps:

1. Access Settings: Log in to your account and go to "Profile Settings"
2. Tax Information: Navigate to the "Tax & Billing" section
3. VAT Registration: Enter your VAT registration number if you have one
4. Tax Preferences: Select your tax preferences:
   • Automatic tax calculation (recommended)
   • Manual tax configuration
   • Tax-exempt status (if applicable)
5. Save Changes: Save your settings to apply them to future transactions

Important Notes for Providers:

• VAT registration numbers are verified before being applied
• Tax settings affect how prices are displayed to clients
• You are responsible for complying with tax regulations in your country
• Tax rates may change, and the system will automatically update calculations

Tax Display on Service Prices

Service prices on Ouiconnect are displayed in the following ways:

• Inclusive Pricing: Prices shown include applicable taxes
• Exclusive Pricing: Taxes are added at checkout (clearly indicated)
• Tax Breakdown: A detailed tax breakdown is provided before payment confirmation

Tax Invoices and Receipts

All transactions on Ouiconnect include:

• Detailed invoices with tax breakdown
• VAT registration numbers (when applicable)
• Tax identification numbers
• Compliance with local tax regulations

You can download invoices and receipts from your account dashboard under "Transactions" or "Billing History".
